And now, because I feel like making a silly list, all the states and whether or not I’ve been to them!

  1. Alabama: no
  2. Alaska: no
  3. Arizona: no
  4. Arkansas: no
  5. California: yes, many times, most recently in May 2018 when I spent a week in Los Angeles for a project
  6. Colorado: yes, most recently for the Ghost Town Writers Retreat in 2017
  7. Connecticut: yes, many times, most recently as a guest at ConnectiCon last summer
  8. Delaware: yes, many times, particularly between June 2009 and May 2010 when Wrenn and I were first dating and she lived there
  9. Florida: yes, many times, most recently in May for MegaCon Orlando
  10. Georgia: yes, many times, most recently last September for Dragon Con
  11. Hawai’i: no
  12. Idaho: no
  13. Illinois: yes, many times, including in 2010 for the very first C2E2
  14. Indiana: yes, just a couple weeks ago for Indy PopCon
  15. Kentucky: yes, a couple times, including in 2018 when I was Author Guest of Honor for ConGlomeration
  16. Iowa: yes, when I was four years old and we drove from New York to Denver
  17. Louisiana: yes, several times, most recently a trip to New Orleans in 2001
  18. Kansas: no
  19. Maine: yes, a few times, most recently in 2013 when I was a guest at PortConMaine
  20. Maryland: yes, many times, most recently over Memorial Day weekend for Balticon
  21. Massachusetts: yes, many many times, most recently over Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day weekend this year when we visited friends in the Boston suburbs
  22. Michigan: yes, when I was a guest at ConFusion in 1998
  23. Minnesota: yes, I had a layover there when I went to OSFest in 2013
  24. Mississippi: yes, when I was a guest of Coast Con in Biloxi in 2001
  25. Missouri: yes, most recently in April for Planet Comic-Con
  26. Montana: no
  27. Nebraska: yes, most recently when I was Author Guest of Honor at OSFest in 2013
  28. Nevada: yes, in 2007 for my mother’s 60th birthday in Las Vegas
  29. New Hampshire: yes, many times, including when our band had a retreat at our bass player’s house in Londonderry in 1999
  30. New Mexico: yes, when I was four years old
  31. New Jersey: yes, many times, including living there for a year when I was two and for six months in 2000-2001
  32. New York: I live here
  33. North Carolina: yes, every time we drive to and from Dragon Con (and I’ll be there next month for GalaxyCon Raleigh)
  34. North Dakota: no
  35. Ohio: yes, many times, including when I was Author Guest of Honor for Marcon in Columbus in 2007
  36. Oklahoma: yes, several times, including in 2005 for a writers conference
  37. Oregon: yes, in 2002 to teach a tie-in writers workshop
  38. Pennsylvania: yes, many many times, as I have family there — though the most recent was on Memorial Day when we visited Wrenn’s father
  39. Rhode Island: yes, several times, including being a guest at Camp Necon in 1998
  40. South Carolina: yes, every time we drive to and from Dragon Con (and generally meet up with our friend Ed for dinner on the drive home)
  41. South Dakota: no
  42. Tennessee: yes, in 2017 when I was a guest of the Providence Literary Festival in Kentucky, but the hotel they put me up in was in Nashville
  43. Texas: yes, most recently when I was a Special Guest at FenCon in 2009
  44. Utah: no, though that should change this year, as I’m likely to be going to FanX in September
  45. Vermont: yes, many times, including a trip to the White Mountains when I was eight
  46. Virginia: yes, many times, most recently for GalaxyCon Richmond in May
  47. Washington: yes, most recently a couple months ago for Emerald City Comic-Con
  48. West Virginia: yes, every time we drive to and from Dragon Con
  49. Wisconsin: no
  50. Wyoming: no
