KRAD COVID reading #72: “Fish Out of Water”

Beginning a week of tales of Cassie Zukav, weirdness magnet, my cycle of urban fantasy stories about scuba diving, Norse gods, rock music, folklore, and beer drinking, not necessarily in that order.

We kick off with “Fish Out of Water,” a story I wrote for Out of Tune, an anthology of stories based on old ballads edited by the mighty Jonathan Maberry. Cassie finds a boat adrift, its passengers and crew acting strangely. She must figure out the connections among that, mermaid sightings, green skies, and a long-ago prank played by Loki. The story was inspired by Childe Ballad #289, “The Mermaid.”
