my Philcon 2017 schedule

I will be one of the (many) author guests at Philcon 2017. It’s funny, Philcon was the first convention I attended as a professional editor in the field when I went to Philcon 1993. At the time, it was one of the go-to conventions for the east coast SF publishing community — every New York editor went there as a matter of course, and SFWA tied its annual authors/editors reception to Philcon weekend because it made sense.

Those days are long past, and Philcon has since settled into a family-reunion-style relaxacon that’s actually great fun to go to. I’ll be spending large swaths of my weekend at the eSpec Books table in the dealer room, and will also be doing the following program items:

Friday

7-8pm: “What Do We Owe Mary Shelley?” w/Alan Beck, April Grey, Christine Norris, and Alex Shvartsman (Plaza II)

11pm-midnight: “Eye of Argon Interactive: Chapter 5,” w/David M. Axler, Ef Deal, Peter Prellwitz, Hildy Silverman, and Michael A. Ventrella (Crystal Ballroom 3)

Saturday

10-11am: “Social Media for Pros,” w/Danielle Ackley-McPhail, Eric Avedissian, Russ Cochamiro, and Michael A. Ventrella (Plaza III)

1-2pm: “George A. Romero: In Memoriam,” w/Matt Black, James Chambers, Tony Finan, and Jay Smith (Plaza V) — I will only be there for the first half-hour of this because of….

1.30-2pm: reading (Executive Suite 623)

2-3pm: autographing, w/Jer Keene (autograph table)

Sunday

12-1pm: practical self-defense workshop (2762)

Hope to see folks there!
