now available once again: Dragon Precinct

Some of you may have noticed that the “Precinct” books have been hard to come by, and that I haven’t had them at conventions lately. That will finally change, starting this week.

As of now, eSpec Books is the new home of my high fantasy police procedural series. To start with, they will be reissuing the four novels and one short story collection in the series, with each of the novels having bonus material.

Available now is Dragon Precinct, the first book in the series, in which Lieutenants Torin ban Wyvald and Danthres Tresyllione must find out who killed Gan Brightblade, one of the heroes of the realm, who was murdered on the eve of a heroic quest with his comrades. Also part of this new edition is the bonus story “Gan Brightblade vs. Mitos the Mighty,” previously only available to Kickstarter supporters, which tells the story of Brightblade and his companions on one of their adventures from several perspectives.

This new edition is available from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Kobo in print and eBook form, so check it out.

Still to come are Unicorn Precinct (which will also have as a bonus the story “When the Magick Goes Away,” chronicling Danthres and Torin’s first case together), Goblin Precinct (which will have the bonus story “Baker’s Dozen,” the detectives’ second case together), Gryphon Precinct (which will have a new story that I will write for that edition), and Tales from Dragon Precinct.

After that, eSpec will be releasing Mermaid Precinct — and more besides! With a new publisher comes new books, and one of the things we’ll be seeing in Mermaid is an expansion of the Cliff’s End Castle Guard and the opening of two new police precincts in the city-state: those two new precincts will be seen in the next two novels in the series, Phoenix Precinct and Manticore Precinct. Plus we’ll be doing another short-story collection, More Tales from Dragon Precinct.

I know it’s been a while since there’s been new stories of Danthres and Torin, but that will change this year. The Cliff’s End Castle Guard is back, and not going anywhere any time soon…..
